The Play Jove municipal space, managed by the Youth Department, has celebrated its first birthday & has already become a fixed headquarters for many young people in the municipality.
Councillor Ximo Segarra says that this area located in the Plaza de la Constitución in which adolescents have numerous leisure options and services of interest such as wifi, has had a positive reception. In addition, they have other sports facilities to enjoy outdoors in the square, such as basketball baskets & football goals.
Segarra reminds us that PlayJove is open every day during the week (Monday to Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.), with a daily average of about 30 users. On Saturdays it opens once a month for special activities with attendance of around 50. Activitie this first year have included championships of futbolín, of Fifa, pingpong, MC’s (rap music) & a bottle flip challenge.
The councillor explained that these activities are provided following the suggestions of the young people themselves, who have also had a lot to do with the latest investments such as the purchase of more classic table games & the creation of a dance space. “The intention is to offer a space to suit them, in which they feel comfortable,” said the councillor.
In this sense, Play Jove is in continually adapting and next year, in addition to leisure, it will also offer a space for study.
