Response statement by José Chulvi to the Ciudadanos denuncia / Respuesta declaración de José Chulvi a la denuncia Ciudadanos

With regard to the denuncia of C’s against the mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, on behalf of the economic management of the City Council (signature of invoices with repairs), it is necessary to clarify the following:

In the first place it demonstrates ignorance of how most of the Town Councils of Spain work. It is logical if one thinks that this party does not have mayors nor relevant government functions in the Valencian Community. If C’s wants to make this type of opposition, it will have to denounce all the City Councils of the Valencian Community. And explain to five million Valencians why their institutions are paralysed in exchange for a headline and to be in the electoral race.

Signing an invoice for repairs does not mean anything other than authorising the payment of a job that must be done when a public contract has not yet been drawn or it is an emergency. For example: during the storms of last year the next day, shovels and workers had to be brought in to clean Duanes and Avenida del Mediterráneo within 24 hours. What does C’s suggest? That it is not done? That they leave the stones and the reeds in the street for three months until the contract comes out?

The City Council of Xàbia has more than 30 public contract documents in place to adapt to the new Intervention criteria, but in the meantime the daily life of the town can not be paralysed. Schools have to be painted, the Pabellón Municipal machine room must be repaired, sports clubs must be paid, local festivities must be scheduled, pavements must be fixed … Those who present these bills are mostly small and medium-sized companies in Xàbia that have done the work. If we suddenly stop their activity, they will be forced to close or to lay off workers.

On the other hand, these bills have always been in plain sight of everyone: technicians and parties. They have passed openly and with stenographers by the Finance Committee and the municipal plenary without any votes against them. It is significant that this accusation comes from outside the City Council and by people without ties to Xàbia who have never worried about the welfare of their neighbours: no group with representation in the plenary would do it because everyone knows that there are times that it is inevitable that The Administration entrusts work in this way to work with the efficiency that the residents of Xàbia deserve.

The complaint talks about “breaking contracts”. The accusation is as grave as it is false and again demonstrates that the complainant has no knowledge of reality. They are not contracts but bills. The existing contracts are endorsed by the technicians and available to anyone who wants to consult them. All, without exception, are legal.

That C’s wants to enter the electoral campaign with these issues is regrettable, because it is not the mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, who is harmed, but the companies of this town. And the neighbours who can see that their daily needs are not dealt with.

Meeting with the Moroccan Community

have been able to share very important moments with representatives of the Moroccan community in Xàbia. I was able to meet them to know firsthand their concerns and needs; but above all, I proved once again that the great wealth of our town is the diversity and harmonious coexistence among people. Today, at the Town Hall, I received Hakim and Mohamed, president and secretary of the group, and Mohamed El Milahi, mayor of the city of Oued Laou and Moroccan national deputy. Together, we are working to create a united, peaceful and supportive community.

Xàbia Town Council introduces in the local schools the postural education project “Pon un fisio en tu cole” (Put a physio in your school).

The Xàbia Department of Education, in collaboration with the clinic Karoon FisioXàbia, has begun to implement in the schools of the municipality a pioneering health project for the Marina Alta, known as “Put a physio in your school. ”
The Councilor responsible, Montse Villaverde, explained that it has been noticed that a large number of schoolchildren suffer during their childhood with problems related to their backs, mainly due to the hours they spend sitting, the weight of their satchels and an increasingly sedentary lifestyle.
With a view to alleviating the problems, this postural education project begins with the involvement of both the teachers and the students. The project has begun by training and creating awareness among the teachers through workshops and now the training is moving to the classroom, where a physiotherapist will teach children to know their bodies, be aware of postural bad habits and what are the healthiest postures.
It will also provide them with guidelines for inclusion in the class routines, for example, to take time to become aware of how they are sitting, and then do some exercises or stretches to relieve their backs.
The Councillor stated that, as of next month, these workshops will be organised in the afternoon within the complementary activities to the continuous school day, and one afternoon per week each school will have at their disposal a physiotherapist who can advise and try to solve any doubts and the ailments of children, parents and other staff of the school.
With this project, adds Villaverde, in addition to introducing a physiotherapist in the schools, the work will aid health, since it is expected to avoid mild ailments which could lead to more important issues.

The Wüst family donates a piano and an organ to the Xàbia Conservatory of Music

The Professional Conservatory of Music of Xàbia has received an important gift from a family of residents living in the municipality. The gift consists of a piano and a good quality organ, as well as a significant collection of scores and scripts.
The instruments were owned by Christiaan Wüst, an amateur pianist who was recently deceased. Despite the great sentimental value of the instruments which had accompanied their father all his life, his children wanted them to be in a place where they would be put to good use and thought that the Xàbia Conservatory was a good destination. David Wüst and his wife Samantha Hinneman contacted the heads of the municipal music training centre and offered the donation.
As explained by the Conservatory, the piano and the organ are already in the classrooms and assist the children of the municipality to better their musical education. The piano will be used in the instrument classes as well as in the orchestra and for chamber music, while the organ will be used for both for both the chorus and accompaniment.
The professors and the councillor for Culture, Quico Moragues, have thanked the Wüst family for this important donation.
