The most important press conference of my career

Today I convened the most important press conference of my career: it was to announce that the court has dismissed the complaint that unjustly, arbitrarily and irresponsibly, C’s (the political party Ciudadanos) filed against me 9 months ago.

In this time I have had to suffer a lot, just as my family has suffered. But I have also received great and unforgettable proof of love and support: my colleagues from the PSPV of Xàbia and the Provincial Council, all the members of my party at regional level with the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, in front, the representatives of the opposition – which have shown an impeccable attitude -, our local government team, neighbors and friends … many people that I will never forget, I can assure you.

This decision shows that everything we did to hire the necessary workers & contracts for our people was legal, that there was neither fractionation nor embezzlement, that we have always acted in accordance with the law and defending the interests of Xàbia. And that the complaint was nothing more than an unfounded manoeuvre by a party that was looking for five minutes of fame without considering the consequences.

I understand politics as a public service to try to improve people’s lives, nothing more and nothing less. And I can be wrong, like everyone, but always with a high level of self-imposed ethics.

As for the question that some people have asked me of whether I will put a complaint against my complainants, the answer is no. First, because the word resentment does not enter into my vocabulary, and second because I respect justice and I believe that courts only have to be used for really important issues. Using them for personal revenge is, at the very least, irresponsible.

Now this sentence, also, give me renewed strength and enthusiasm to continue working for Xàbia and take forward the important challenges that lie ahead. And to present myself again in the elections next year to continue the path that, together, we started in 2011. Thank you all!
